Back in 2004, me and a good friend of mine founded a small record label. We shared the same vision and taste in Heavy Metal music and decided to name it Steel Legacy Records. Our goal is to track down favorite bands of old, bands that never had the chance of a proper release. I am talking about demo or live recordings, unreleased records, videos etc. We give the bands a chance to see their forgotten material finally printed and distributed for the world to listen.

This is not about being cult and obscure. Music is what counts and we don’t issue a recording that doesn’t blow our minds away. All our releases are absolutely legitimate and with the finest quality possible. Getting our own release as a final product in our hands is a truly rewarding experience, its like giving birth. The same goes for the creators of the music. After years of hard work, countless dreams and loads of spent money, they finally get to see the fruit of their hard labor.

Our first release was the Final Axe - Beyond Hell’s Gate record, issued in 500 vinyl copies in early 2005. Beyond Hell’s Gate was originally recorded in 1989 and issued in cassette form. The record contains fine American Power metal with a Christian message. The epic/fantasy artwork was made by Eric York. This released was well received and is close to selling out.

Our second one was the Tyrant - Days at the Farm/The Tyrant Anthology record, issued in 500 vinyl copies in early 2006. The metal community was stunned with this legendary recording dating back in 1981. Fans and collectors would pay a load of money just to get the sleeveless Tyrant - Hold Back the Lighting/Eyes of a Stranger 7″ but we offered these two tracks in this release along with another 7 killers and an amazing epic artwork by Eric York! Currently sold out!

The next Steel Legacy blow was a double one. We released our third and fourth albums at the same time. Both were issued in a limited 330 copies vinyl edition and a 1000 copies cd one. Canadian band Zions Abyss and their 1991 power metal ravager “T.A.L.E.S.” and American band Cross with their Christian epic power assault from 1986 named “Metal from Above”. Both recordings are critically acclaimed and have reached a cult status among the tape trading community but the time had come to introduce them to the metal world in the most appropriate and fitting way. The Zions Abyss lp became our second sell out.
